Depleted Secondary

Fantasy football nerds are starting Chad Henne against the Bengals. They’re doing this for two reasons: One – last years top-five defense designed by Mike Zimmer has been non-existant so far this year, especially when the Bengals have needed it most. Two – The Bengals secondary is so banged up right now that the front office decided they should sign Rico Murray from their practice squad.

That’s right. Rico Murray. Adam Jones is out for the season with a neck injury. Leon Hall, Morgan Trent, Chinedum Ndukwe and Roy Williams have not practiced this week and Jonathan Joseph was finally on the practice field but with limited action on Thursday. So, if we look at the state of the Bengals’ secondary right now, Jonathan Joseph would be playing, but probably not at 100 percent, and opposite him would be rookie Brandon Ghee with Murray as a possible backup. Then when you add this already terrifying scenario to the fact that the Bengals pass rush has been completely non-existant, you have a recipe for a Brandon Marshal induced disaster.

Crap.

Here’s to hoping someboy has some magic healing powers in the Bengals locker room.
