According to an article on WCPO Carson Palmer (through his confidants) is done with the Bengals. Yeah, yeah we know, you said that already. However, this message resonates with me. His exact words were:
“I will never set foot in Paul Brown Stadium again,” is how he put it to one confidant.
He continued, “I have $80 million in the bank. I don’t have to play football for money. I’ll play it for the love of the game but that would have to be elsewhere. I’m prepared to live my life.”
OK, so maybe he is done. What scares me is that the Bengals may not know before the draft whether or not there are options to trade Carson. If he needs to be gone then I hope the Bengals get a lot for him. At least a first round pick.
Secondly, a team is going to have to want to pick up his salry for the next 4 years. He is slated to make 50 million and that is steep for a guy that some think is on the backside of his career. To be honest though, I am not mad at Carson. Sometimes I wish I could quit the Bengals too.
