All week we have been revealing picks from my mock draft. On the clock today are picks 5 – 6. To recap:
1. Carolina – Cam Newton, QB, Auburn
2. Denver – DaQuan Bowers, DE, Clemson
3. Buffalo – Blaine Gabbert, QB, Missouri
4. Cincinnati – Patrick Peterson, CB, LSU
With the fifth pick in the NFL draft, the Arizona Cardinals select: Von Miller, LB, Texas A & M. Miller was amazing at the NFL scouting combine, and even though the Cardinals need a quarterback in the worst way, the top rated players at the position are already gone. The Cardinals are expected to pursue a veteran option, but I am sure they would consider one of the top two if they were still on the board. The Cardinals other glaring need is at LB, where they never fully replaced the playmaking ability of Karlos Dansby. Miller will be an instant impact player.
With the sixth pick in the NFL draft, the Cleveland Browns select: AJ Green, WR, Georgia. Cleveland has a lot of holes to fill, but after drafting multiple WRs in recent drafts they still have major questions at the position. With Colt McCoy showing promise in 2010, the Browns will be looking to supply him weapons for the aerial attack. AJ Green is no longer the consensus top WR, but he is a complete player who has all of the tools to produce right away. We also considered the top DTs, but Green was too good to pass on at 6.
