If you’re anyone else, you might have read Andrew Whitworth’s quote about the lockout leading to some lazy players and worried about your team’s overall fitness. If you’re a Bengals fan like me, you might have forgotten about every player on your team and focused solely on Andre Smith. Smith’s conditioning problems have played a role in a broken foot in his first season and his general ineffectiveness as a Bengal.

So I read Andrew Whitworth’s quote in USA Today and immediately began thinking of Cincinnati’s former No. 6 pick.

“Guys are human beings. And if you tell guys ‘It doesn’t look like you’re doing anything until July or August,’ guys will lose a lot of incentive to train and to get better,” Whitworth said. “You will get a lot of guys who will say, ‘We’re not even going to play. I’m not going to work hard all the time.’”

I wonder what Smith is doing now. Is he working out? Lifting weights? Doing anything? Do I really want to know?
