Since all we care about here is our team that consistently kicks us below the belt, I’m stopping at No. 4. Mel Kiper and Todd McShay both gave the Bengals A.J. Green in their latest mocks. I’m going in a different direction. Perhaps it’s wishful thinking, hoping for anything other than another wideout.

1. Carolina Panthers: Cam Newton, QB, Auburn
I think Carolina is crazy for drafting its third quarterback in the past two years, but I also think there’s a good chance this will happen. If not by the Panthers, perhaps by someone else who is willing to trade up.
2. Denver Broncos: Patrick Peterson, CB, LSU
New Denver head coach John Fox likes defense. Peterson could learn the trade from Champ Bailey and give the Broncos a talented pair of cornerbacks that would serve as the strength of their defense.
3. Buffalo Bills: Blaine Gabbert, QB, Missouri
I’m not buying that the Bills are content to ride former Bengal Ryan Fitzpatrick for a few more seasons. The team needs defense, but won’t be able to turn down a top-rated quarterback.
4. Cincinnati Bengals: Nick Fairley, Auburn, DT
The Bengals are pretty well stocked at defensive tackle already, but I could seem them interested in a disruptive force that seems perfect for the 4-3. Throw in the fact that Fairley has been questioned for inconsistent effort and an occasional penalty flag and he sure seems like a Bengal to me.
