NFL Network’s Mike Mayock, one of the more esteemed draft experts, looks at the mid to lower-tier running backs in this video segment. Cincinnati is expected to take a running back somewhere in the middle rounds. One player to keep an eye on is Kansas State’s Daniel Thomas, a big, bruising back who the Bengals worked with at the Senior Bowl. Syracuse’s Delone Carter is also an interesting prospect with size that seems to be perfect for the AFC North.

Somewhere in the draft, the Bengals need to find a replacement for Cedric Benson. Benson developed fumbling problems last year and is currently unsigned. If the team is lucky, he may have another good year or two left. But it makes a lot of sense to draft another back now. Just in case.
