Bengals Have Picks 17 and 21 in the Draft

The Bengals will be drafting at No. 17 and 21 in the first round of the draft.

According to the Cincinnati Enquirer, Denver’s victory over Pittsburgh gave the Bengals a nice bump in next year’s draft, putting Cincinnati at pick No. 21 in addition to pick No. 17 that the team acquired in the Carson Palmer trade.

ESPN’S ScoutsInc. has LSU defensive end Sam Montgomery at No. 17 and Penn State tackle Devon Still at No. 21. Mel Kiper has Alabama linebacker Courtney Upshaw at No. 17 and North Carolina linebacker Zach Brown at 21. Rob Rang has Nebraska cornerback Alfonzo Dennard at No. 17 and North Alabama’s Janoris Jenkins, who previously played at Florida, at No. 21.

I know that I’m not appealing to the highest of sports sources here, but Bleacher Report mocks the Bengals to take David Decastro (OG, Stanford) and Alfonso Dennard (CB, Nebraska) in the first and Doug Martin (RB, Boise State) in the second. I would be giddy with those first two picks. [http://bleacherreport.com/articles/1014573-2012-nfl-mock-draft-cincinnati-bengals-full-7-round-mock-draft]

I know the need, but I am less enthusiastic about taking a LB in the first. There are already two completely unproven guys on the roster in Muckelroy and Moch. Adding a third doesn’t excite me.
