Quick Hits on Bama Prospects

If you saw Alabama’s defense at all in the BCS Title Game, it’s pretty apparent that the team is loaded with talent. Not surprisingly, a number of players are potential first round picks, and perhaps one or two could find themselves with the Bengals. Here a few quick thoughts on a trio of Alabama defenders courtesy of ESPN’s Kevin Weidl. The entire article is available here.

Dre Kirkpatrick, CB, (Scouts Inc. #8 overall):  “Great size (6-2, 190) and length and shows great awareness in zone coverage.”

Mark Barron, S, (Scouts Inc. #14):  “A versatile playmaker who can play point in coverage or drop into the box and knock a ball carrier’s teeth out in run support.”

Courtney Upshaw, OLB, (Scouts Inc. #16):  “Defensive MVP of the win over LSU with seven tackles and a sack, showing off the blue-collar mentality and nonstop motor that make him a tempo-setter along the front seven.”

Dont’a Hightower, ILB, :  “His size (6-3½, 260) and power between the tackles are second to none, and his thick base and instincts allow him to control things inside and stone ball carriers at the line of scrimmage.”
