Training Camp will be closer to home

Last year, WhoDeyFans fired up the old WhoDeyFan’s bus and made the trek to Georgetown, Kentucky to watch the Bengals participate in training camp.  This year, the trip will be much shorter. It was announced today that due to the new NFL rules (I hear money) camp will be held at Paul Brown Stadium.

It will be interesting to see how the players react and how the situation changes in regards to what the players do outside of practice.  In heading to Georgetown, the players stayed in dorms and were forced to spend time together during meals and meetings. I wonder if the new arrangement will affect team comaraderie.

I understand the logic behind this, but the team should do something to lessen the economic impact. This will probably have a significant effect on Georgetown. The team should at least hold a scrimmage or something there.

I’m glad that Mickey, Timm and I (and DJ Flux) made the trip down then. I like that the Bengals are moving it to Cincinnati though. I am hoping this opens the door for a Bengalsfest similar to what the Reds do with Redsfest at the Cincy Convention Center. Wishful thinking though I guess.
