Should the Bengals Extend Marvin Lewis’ Contract?

News broke at the NFL Combine today that the Bengals have approached head coach Marvin Lewis about a contract extension that would keep him in Cincinnati past this season. What do you think? Vote now.

    Foolish to do so. If he does not make the playoffs — which is his m.o. after making the playoffs — why would I want a coach who aftter ten years has been to the playoffs only three times and not won anything? Then, there will be the “I can’t waste the $5M I am paying Lewis if I fire him now with at least one year left on his contract (if more, G-d forbid, they are really screwed!)? If he gets into the playoffs, then you can sign him to a large deal. But last year’s success was mostly due to the two coordinators and Andy Dalton and ot from any genius from Lewis and the proof is how poorly they did down the stretch as they always do in a winning season.
